This building was originally a Regency mews coach-house, somewhat badly altered over the years. My client wanted an extension to include a master bedroom on the first floor, living room and orangery on the ground floor with a utility room and wine cellar in the basement. In the photographs, you can see the top right-hand window is still in its original position while the extension comes forward of this line.
My client, a Texan oil man, looked at the sketch design of the Wendy House on the garden watercolour, and said to me “Anthony, it looks too colonial to me. I want Tudor”. So I gave him a Tudor Wendy House which he absolutely loved (he was almost in tears when he saw my sketch) but his wife hated it so it never got built!
